Little Voices

by L. Oshosheni Hiveluah

Little voices
Never hear
Quick to listen, slow to speak

Little voices
Never seen
I laugh at the fool who said seeing is believing

Little voices
Never tasted
Bitterness dwells on the rooftop of our tongues

Little voices
Never felt
The mist collects on our earth coloured skins

Little voices
Never smelt
Like salty tears odour-and colourless

Little voices
of little people
not in size, oh no no no, not in size, but in projection

Little voices speak every day
Dampened and silenced peacefully

Little voices
Always quick to speak
Yet we forget what we have said

Little voices

Little voices
I too am one
Thank God for the mighty pen

Little voices
Do you not hear
How the peace of silence escapes us?
